To fully embrace the future, you have to appreciate the past!

You may have read on social media that this week we have jumped a couple of hurdles toward growing Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows. Our hair accessories are currently being displayed and sold at Pops’s Corn and Candy Shoppe in St. Clair Shores, MI and our food license was approved this week! We will be making our products at Pop’s as well. Since starting this venture we have been astounded and touched at the way local small businesses support each other.

So with our eyes and dreams fixed on the future we were excited to celebrate our past recently at our 25th class reunion!

Maura and I graduated together from Troy Athens High School in 1991 (see the pic below from our color guard days. Maura is seen in the front left, I am in the back). Since that time we have had many adventures, but we have never forgot where we came from, and the people that were there with us

.

Of course as with every occasion we celebrate, we have to put our own spin on it. We laughingly decided we would have to find a dress with lollipops on it, thinking we never would (at least not one that would fit anyone over a 12-years-old). But low and behold, an Amazon search presented the perfect outfit. The CowCow Pink Lollipop and cupcake dress!

So we went for it. I mean, two middle-aged, overweight women wearing matching lollipop dresses, what could possibly be wrong with that?

The dresses screamed us so we bought them and immediately made giant matching hair bows to go with the ensemble.

As I got ready to leave, my 12-year-old daughter saw me in the dress and said, “I want a dress like that.” To which I replied, “It would probably be more appropriate on you. Oh well!”

What a great time it was reconnecting with those that we wish we could see more often. It’s so exciting to hear about everyone’s adventures. We miss them all already and hope to be able to see them before our next reunion.

And everyone seemed to love that two 40+-year-olds came in matching novelty dresses on purpose. We got a lot of great comments (at least to our face!). People asked us if there was a reason for the lollipop dress (I mean, besides being fantastic). When we told them about our business venture many asked for cards. And after all that outfit planning to reflect our new business venture, guess what we forgot? Yup, business cards (I mean, come on! That is marketing 101).

But a great time was had by all. And we already have our eyes on a unicorn design for the 50th reunion.

Our theme song this week:
